Iroquois Take Home Bronze With Win Over Australia

This game would be a battle between the Iroquois and Australia for the Bronze medal. Coming into this game the Iroquois were the defending gold medalist and Australia was trying to capture their first medal in eight years. 
The Iroquois would start out this game hot as they got back-to-back goals from Ty Thompson and Hiana Thompson. Australia would be able to answer after a few possessions with a Chris Robertson goal. Austin Staats would have one to end the first quarter for the Iroquois. After controlling the pace and possessions the Iroquois would hold a 4-1 lead heading into the second quarter.

Franky Brown would start off the  second with a goal to put the Iroquois up 5-1. That would be the start of a three goal run for the Iroquois in which Brendan Bomberry and Randy Staats also get a goal apiece. The Iroquois would get two more goals via Austin Staats and Randy Staats to give them nine goals in the half. Australia would get three goals before the half ended. Those three Aussie goals would come from William Pickett, Nigel Morton, and Kennedy Mitchell. That would make it a 9-4 Iroquois lead at the half as they seemed to control the pace of play for the majority of the first half.

In the third the it would be a more back and fourth but the Iroquois would be able to stay ahead and maintain their lead. Australia would start off the scoring with Lachlan Walker to cut the Iroquois lead to 9-5. Austin Staats and Kyle Jackson would get two straight goals to put the Iroquois back up seven, 11-5. Lachlan Walker would have one for Australia and Kyle Jackson wold get another for the Iroquois. The last goal of the quarter would come from Australia as William Pickett got the Aussies their seventh of the game.

Heading into the final twenty minutes of play the Iroquois held a 12-7 lead with the Aussies starting to gain momentum and mount a comeback. Kyle Jackson would get his second goal of the day for the Iroquois before Australia would go on a three goal run. During the Aussies three goal run Nigel Morton would have two and Jeffrey Melsopp would notch one. That run would give Australia a ton of momentum but the Iroquois would answer with a Randy Staats goal. Australia would get some momentum back with two goals from Graham Thomas and Nigel Morton. That wouldn’t be enough as the Iroquois would gain control of the pace with Warren Hill’s impressive play in cage down the stretch. A few long possessions for the Iroquois would effectively end this one and give the Iroquois a third place finish, Bronze medal.
