Coquitlam Silences Brampton in Overtime to Win the Minto Cup

The best game of the tournament would need overtime to decide the outcome as the Coquitlam Adanacs captured the Minto Cup championship. Brampton would put together an impressive comeback and force overtime, but Coquitlam used those extra ten minutes to their advantage.
Early on in the game it was all Coquitlam as they dominated both ends of the floor. Coquitlam started the game with a four goal run that lasted the majority of the first period. During that run Josh Hofseth would get two goals while Will Clayton and Dennon Armstrong had one a piece. Brampton would answer as Justin Robinson and Austin Hasen. That would make it a 4-2 Coquitlam lead heading into the second period.
The second period was a little slower than the first but Coquitlam still had the upper hand for the majority of the period. Coquitlam started the second with a three goal run as Dennon Armstrong scored one and Larson Sundown followed with two in a row. Brampton would finally find the back of the net as Justin Sykes scored late in the period to cut the Coquitlam lead to 7-3.
In the third Brampton would come out hot as they put together an impressive run to eventually force overtime. Brampton would start the third with a four goal run that lasted until about midway through the period. During that run Brampton would see Clarke Peterson score two while Jeff Teat and Jake Boudreau each score one. With the game all tied up 7-7 midway through the period Coquitlam would take back the lead 8-7 with ten minutes left in the period. Brampton would tie The game back up at 8-8 with 13:02 in the period. That would be the last goal of regulation as the defenses prevailed down the stretch.
The overtime period would get off to  slow start, offensively speaking. Both squads had some decent looks at the cage and multiple oppourtunities. The defense was stellar from both Coquitlam and Brampton early on. As the overtime period was winding down Will Clayton would score to put Coquitlam up 9-8. Coquitlam would get another goal by way of Ethan Ticehurst that would put them up 10-8 and that would be the game. It was a fantastic game, but Coquitlam would be able to make the plays in crunch time to secure the win.
Brampton was lead by Clarke Petterson who had 6 points (2G,4A). Justin Sykes would bethe second leading point scorer for Brampton with 4 points (1G,3A). In goal for Brampton Steve Orleman had 52 saves off of 62 shots. For Coquitlam it would be Will Clayton that would lead them with 7 points (3G,4A). Dylan Foulds also had 5 points with 5 assist. Larson Sundown and John Hofseth also contributed with 4 points a piece. In goal for Coquitlam Christian Del Bianco had 29 saves off of 36 shots to help Coquitlam capture the Minto Cup.
