The Peterborough Lakers have taken a 3-0 lead in the Mann Cup after defeating the Maple Ridge Burrards 11-6 on Monday night. The game remained relatively close throughout the first and second periods as it was a 6-4 Peterborough lead heading into the third. Defense was more or less the name of the game for both sides early on but that would change in the third as Peterborough’s offense took over. Peterborough would take over in the third as they had five goals from five different scorers. That would help seal the deal and put them ahead 3-0 in the Mann Cup as they just need one more win to sweep Maple Ridge and claim the Mann Cup Championship.
Each squad would play very hard and had some good individual performances at each end of the floor. For Maple Ridge they would be led by Curtis Dickson and Ben McIntosh. Both guys would have the same stat line with 3 points (1G,2A). Riley Loewen and Jean-Luc Chetner also contributed for Maple Ridge on the offensive end. In goal for Maple Ridge it was another good performance from Frank Scigliano as he had 35 saves off of 46 shots.
Peterborough was led by Shawn Evans and Kyle Buchanan. Evans led the team and game with 8 points (8A). While Evans was dishing out assist Buchanan was able put up 6 points (3G,3A). Cory Vitarelli and Thomas Hoggarth also made big contributions for Peterborough with 4 points a piece. In goal for Peterborough Evan Kirk had 23 saves off of 29 shots.
Game four of the Mann Cup will be played on Tuesday night at 8PM and as always you can watch the game with Lacrosse TV. If Peterborough wins on Tuesday it would be the first Mann Cup sweep since 2008 when Brampton swept New Westminster.
