Marist finalized their 2019 recruiting class over the weekend as they got a commitment from 2019 Lake Oswego (OR)/3d Lacrosse – 2019 defenseman Keenan DeRaeve. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound DeRaeve said he chose Marist because of the coaching staff and the fact that Marist is a pretty prestigious school as well.
As a dual-sport athlete DeRaeve also played football for Lake Oswego where he had 49 all purpose yards to help his team capture a OSAA 6A State Championship this past fall.
DeRaeve, who took a visit to Marist back in December, said that his communication with the Marist coaching staff is pretty regular and he talks to them about once a week. Bellarmine was the only other school that DeRaeve had been talking to over the past few months.
Entering his senior season at Lake Oswego (OR) DeRaeve said, “I am the captain of the team this year so I really want to lead the younger kids to take the program into their after this year, and I want them to continue to build a legacy for our school.” DeRaeve’s biggest goal for this season is to win a state championship, which has never been done at Lake Oswego lacrosse history.
DeRaeve is a good cover defender that can cause a lot of problems for opposing offensive players. DeRaeve looks most comfortable defending behind the cage, but can do damage at multiple spots on the field. As an aggressive defenseman DeRaeve is able to cause turnovers and push the ball up the field into the offensive zone. He also has the skillset to play the LSM position as well.
With DeRaeve committing over the weekend Marist has finalized their 2019 recruiting class. The Red Foxes have every 2019 recruit except DeRave signed and locked in.
