McKinney High School (TX)/ West Coast Starz junior midfielder Cameron Johnson has committed to UMass. Johnson is the fifth player in the 2020 class to commit to UMass and the second midfielder.
The 6-0, 175lb midfielder is a good dodger who can beat his man from multiple spots on the field. Johnson has a good lacrosse IQ and is able to make the right play, whether it’s a shot or pass. As a shooter he is able to put the ball in the back of the cage from outside, in traffic, as well as inside.
Johnson also has the ability to invert as an attackman as he can make play around the crease and go to work behind the cage at X. He is also capable of playing defensive midfield if needed as he can cause problems on that end of the field as well, especially in the ride.
UMass now has five players committed in the 2020 class with Cameron Johnson now committed. Johnson joins Grant Breyo from Buford (GA) as the second midfielder committed to UMass in the 2020 class.
