This week there are six games on the docket as three will be on Friday night and three of Saturday night. Out of the six games this weekend two will be the third and final matchup between the two teams and one will be the second matchup between the two this season.
Coming into week eight some of the storylines include, Philadelphia still searching for that first win, Saskatchewan looking to get back on track, Colorado searching for their second win of the season, and more. It should be a very exciting weekend of lacrosse action.
Friday, February 1st
Saskatchewan @ Toronto – 7:30pm
Saskatchewan travels to Toronto after taking a very tough loss on the road against Georgia last week. The Rush will be looking to get back on track while Toronto looks to keep winning after a good win last week in Philadelphia. Saskatchewan will need to step it up on offense and defense from last week if they want to get a win in Toronto this weekend. Toronto has been stellar on offense with Schreiber and company, as well on defense with Nick Rose in goal. They will want to stay consistent as they have been over the past few weeks.
New England Black wolves @ Georgia Swarm – 7:35pm
These two squads come into week eight with opposite storylines. Georgia is coming off of a big win against Saskatchewan last week while New England got pounded by Buffalo and is look to get back on track. Georgia’s offense has been one of the best in the league as they try to stay on course this weekend against New England, who beat Georgia a few weeks ago. New England couldn’t get anything going on either side of the floor last week as they look to start making some noise again this weekend. New England will want to improve their defense from last week for sure.
Rochester @ Philadelphia – 8:00pm
Philadelphia will travel to take on Rochester on Friday night as they are still searching for their first win of the season. The Wings have improved each week and almost got it done last week as they came up short. If that offense of Kevin Crowley and others can get hot early on they may have a good chance at getting one in the win could. Rochester ended their slump last week as they dominated Buffalo in a home win. The Knighthawks were stellar all over the floor and they must be able to somewhat replicate that to get a win here on Friday night against a very hungry Philadelphia team.
Saturday, February 2nd
Georgia @ Rochester – 7:30pm
Both of these teams will come into Saturday night after a game on Friday. One would expect to see a little bit of a slower start due that fact, but you never know what you’re going to get in the NLL on any given night. Again Georgia has a fantastic offense and they have been improving on defense week by week. Rochester has been up and down this season but they look to continue the dominance they played with a week ago.
Colorado @ Buffalo – 7:30pm
Colorado comes into this game after taking a very tough loss to Vancouver in overtime last weekend. Colorado has found their footing with some very good performances, but they can’t let the opposition comeback like they did last weekend. Buffalo had been looking good until getting dominated by Rochester last week, but they did rebound as they pounded New England the next day. Buffalo will be looking to get their fiery offense going again and try to put Colorado away.
Vancouver @ Calgary – 10:00pm
These two squads are meeting each other for the third time this season. The first two meetings didn’t disappoint as we saw some great lacrosse. Fans should expect more of the same in this weekend in the third meeting of the season. Vancouver is coming off their first home win where they were able to comeback and pull out the win in overtime. Calgary had a bye week as they hope that offense can be back to their early season form before Curtis Dickson finally signed. Vancouver will be looking to ride that win last week and Calgary will be looking to improve on both ends of the floor. Judging from these two’s past meetings this has the potential to be maybe the best game of the weekend.
