Gameday Roundup: Penn State Downs Villanova, Wagner Wins in OT, Charalambides is Back, and More

The first Saturday of the 2019 college lacrosse season did not disappoint as there were great games and performances everywhere. Some of the bigger storylines included the returns of Grant Ament at Penn State and Adam Charalambides at Rutgers, Wagner getting an OT win to open the McCutcheon era, and Penn State starting hot with a big win over Villanova. Maryland and Duke also got the season started off strong.

Highlights

High Point took down St. Bonaventure by a score of 13-0 

Asher Nolting got his sophomore campaign started off on a high note putting up a hat trick in the Panthers win.

Detroit Mercy used a big second half to take down Jacksonville
Jack Jasinski and Tre LeClair both recorded hat tricks to lead Ohio State to victory over in-state for Cleveland State
The Nittany Lions got their season started off strong as Grant Ament led them to a dominating victory over Villanova.
Rutgers ran over Lafayette as Adam Charalambides and Kieran Mullins led the Scarlet Knights offensive attack.
The Terrapins topped the Bison 11-6 as Logan Wisnauskas was one to lead the way for Maryland. 
Wagner took down Bellarmine in overtime on the road  to open up the Bill McCutcheon era on a high note.
North Carolina downed Mercer in a neutral site contest down in Atlanta.
Lehigh took down NJIT by a score of 15-8 to open up 2019 with a bang in Bethlehem!
Duke downs Furman 17-9 as Joe Robertson led the way with 4 goals for the Blue Devils. With this win John Danowski recorded his 400th career win.
