The defending NEC champions Robert Morris landed a commitment from 2020 faceoff/midfielder Steve DelleMonache out of St. Augustine Prep (NJ). Andrew McMinn and the Colonials pick up their second commitment of the 2020 cycle with DelleMonache.
The 5-foot-7, 180 pound DelleMonache said his decision was very close between Robert Morris and UMass Lowell. DelleMonache also visited St. Joseph’s and Sacred Heart as well.
“The style of play and they way the staff uses the players on the team made it the best decision for me,” DelleMonache said.
DelleMonache is the only faceoff man committed to the Colonials in the 2020 or 2019 classes. Robert Morris has two currently on the roster in sophomore Michael Autry and junior Trey Arnold.
When asked about how he felt he would fit in at Robert Morris DelleMonache said, “I never would have expected to fit in with a group of guys that I had never met as much as I did with the guys at Robert Morris, There is a big culture of goal setting and that is what I have built my whole career around.”
“I also believe that my ability to lead transition and fast breaks off the faceoff can help this team win more possessions, and get some more points on the board.”
DelleMonache said he never stressed about the recruiting process because he knew that could effect his play, and that the looks would come. DelleMonache had been communicating with Robert Morris head coach Andrew McMinn since December of 2018.
DelleMonache is set to begin his junior year with the St. Augustine Prep (NJ) Hermits on March 30th as they open their season up against Moorestown (NJ). DelleMonache’s main goal this season is to lead the Hermits to a Non Public A championship, as well as a TOC championship for the first time in school history.
