Penn State has gotten a big commitment as Canyon Birch announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions. Birch’s commitment to Penn State comes just a few days after his decommitment from Army went public.

The attackman out of Manasquan (NJ)/ Leading Edge Elite is ranked as the number 15 player in the 2019 class and rated as a 5-star, according to Inside Lacrosse. Birch tallied an impressive 175 points (123G, 52A) as a junior at Manasquan.

Birch is a strong and speedy attackman. He is able to use his speed and quickness to be able to turn the corner and find the back of the net. As a shooter he is able to be a threat multiple spots on the field. He can do some damage inside as well as outside.

One of Birch’s best assets as a player is his ability to find space and get open. Birch is very good off ball and can seemingly find the holes in a defense to be able to get a shot off or pass. Birch is also be a very good dodger as well and has been compared to the likes of players such as Matt Rambo.

With Birch now committed to Penn State the Nittany Lions have 16 players committed in the 2019 recruiting class. Birch joins a class at Penn State that includes 6 4-stars, including LSM Sam Sweeney, midfielder Jackson Reynolds, and others. Birch is the only 5-star prospect in this Penn State class.
