Junior defenseman Parker Cyr out of Mill Creek (GA) was able to start talking to college coaches on September 1st of 2018. On September 1st, Cyr was one of 88 players that attended the Inside Lacrosse Midnight Mania event where he got showcase and test his skills up against some of the best players in the country.
Like many other juniors across the country Cyr has been fielding interest from multiple DI schools at various different level since that September 1st contact period back in the fall.
Cyr has stated that he is currently talking or has interest from Fairfield, Saint Joseph’s, Hobart, and Utah at this point in time. As far as visiting schools Cyr said, “I haven’t really taken any visits. My parents and I decided to wait until this spring to visit schools. It has given me time to think about what I really want.”
When asked about when we can expect a decision Cyr said, “My parents and I put a lot of thought into this and decided that I should wait until the end of the spring or summer. We just felt it would be best if I took my time and got to see all of my options.”
Cyr is set to begin his junior campaign with Mill Creek on February 14th as they will take on Greater Atlanta Christian in an away contest to open the season.
Last season as a sophomore Cyr helped lead Mill Creek to the second round of the GHSA state tournament where they lost to Allatoona 7-10.
The 6-foot-2, 190 pound aggressive on-ball defender has high hopes for himself as well as his team in 2019. Cyr said that his personal goals for this season are to make first-team all state, improve his agility, and to work on becoming a better leader through his actions.
Team wise, Cyr said that while they are fairly young this season he believes they have a ton of potential and nothing will stop them from chasing a state title.
