This weeks midweek slate of games was severely diminished with almost every game on Tuesday being cancelled/rescheduled because of the cold weather and snow that dusted the Commonwealth. While there weren’t many midweek games this week, the ones that were played later on – Wednesday and Thursday – ended up being good ones to say the least.

KCD 9, Scott County 8 – Tuesday, March 5th

It was a close one in Louisville on Tuesday as the Bearcats warded off the Cardinals to pull out the 9-8 win. After the first, KCD held a 2-1 lead but Scott County would comeback and tie it up 4-4 at the half. With the game tied at 6 heading to the fourth, KCD was able to secure the one-goal 9-8 win.

Scott County 8, Woodford County 7 – Wednesday, March 6th

Scott County pulled out a close one at home against Woodford County to hand them their first loss of the season. After getting out to a 2-1 first quarter lead, the Cardinals led the rest of the way. A second half comeback from Woodford County made things very close, but Scott County held on for the win.

The Cardinals were led by Seth Quackenbush who scored 4 goals in the win. Austin Hold had 3 goals and Grant Feistritzer tallied 3 points (1G,2A). In goal, Nicholas Withrow made 5 saves.

For Woodford County, Nick Crowe led the way with 2 points (1G,1A). Aden Baldwin owned the faceoff dot, going 12-17 for the Yellow Jackets. Bryan Birch made 13 saves in cage to anchor the Woodford County defense.

Collins 12, Madison County LC 8 – Thursday, March 7th

Collins went on the road and took down the Madison Mavericks 12-8 on Thursday night to open the season with a win.

Trinity 13, Manual 2

The Shamrocks are back to their winning ways as they dominated the Crimson on Thursday night in a road contest, as expected.
