The week got kicked off with the biggest Monday of the season thus far. With five games on the docket we had a really good contest in an inter-state and inter-regional battle, as well as a few blowouts.
Trinity 10, St. Rita (IL) 9
However you want to spin it, Midwest vs South or Kentucky vs Illinois, it was a battle as St. Rita (Ill.) came down to Louisville and faced Trinity on Monday night. This game got started off quick with both teams scoring just seconds after each other in the first few minutes of the game. St. Rita went on a 3-goal run to end the first with a 4-2 lead over the Shamrocks. The second started with a lot of play in the middle of the field and not so many goals, but trinity soon woke up. Gavin Noland and Jacob Rayome caught fire, combining for five goals to help give Trinity a 7-4 lead at the half. After an early Trinity goal to start the third St. Rita answered with two straight to cut the Trinity lead to 9-6 at the end of the third. The Mustangs run continued with three more goal to start the fourth quarter, tying it up at 9. With Trinity 2 men-up Will Redmen put in the game winner for the Rocks with 2:45 left on the clock. The Shamrocks defense held off the Mustangs for the win.
