Rochester Deals Defensemen Scott Campbell and Ian Llord, Signs Mike Manley

Just a few hours before the NLL Trade Deadline, the Rochester Knighthawks made a few more moves. Rochester traded a pair of two veteran defenseman in Scott Campbell and Ian Llord. 

Rochester traded Scott Campbell to Saskatchewan in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2022 and a conditional pick in the 2021 pick. 

Campbell is in his 15th season in the NLL, being drafted 10th overall in the 2004 NLL draft. Campbell played one year in Minnesota with the Swarm. After being selected and  traded to Toronto by the Edmonton Rush in the 2006 expansion draft, Campbell played five seasons with the Rock. He was traded to Rochester in 2011 and has spent ten seasons with the Knighthawks, winning three NLL Championships in 2013, 2014. 

Thus far, Campbell has a career total of 104 caused turnovers and 908 loose balls. The defenseman has also tallied 123 points (50G,73A). This season he has chased down 46 loose balls, caused 7 turnovers, and recorded 7 points (4G,3A).  

Rochester traded defenseman Ian Llord to Colorado in exchange for defenseman Rowan Kelly and a 2021 third-round draft pick. 

Llord was drafted 42nd overall in 2005 NLL draft by Buffalo, but made his NLL debut with the Philadelphia Wings in 2007. A 13-year veteran, Llord has played in Rochester for seven seasons after playing in Buffalo for five. With Rochester Llord help capture a championship in 2013 and 2014. 

Through his 13-year career, Llord has a career total of 88 caused turnovers and 649 loose balls. He also has tallied 71 points (19G,52A). 

With Rowan Kelly the Knighthawks will get a young player in just his second season. Kelly has not seen anytime in Colorado this season and only played in one game last year. 

The Rochester Knighthawks also signed defenseman Mike Manley after two years out of the league. The Penn Yan, NY native signed a one-year deal with Rochester. 

Manley last played in the NLL in 2016 with the Knighthawks. The defenseman was drafted 32nd overall in the 4th round of the 2012 NLL draft by Philadelphia. Manley played in Philadelphia for two seasons and went with the team as they moved to New England. 

Now entering his fifth season in the NLL, Manley has a career total of 31 caused turnovers and has chased down 195 loose balls. He has also tallied 19 points (5G, 14A).

  1. trading away 33+ year old defenders like dawson, llord and campbell for youth and picks might make sense when you are tied for the worst record in the nll. it is better to be a bad young team than a bad old team. this is being done under the guise of team improvement, ok then, but given that rochester has already announced it move to halifax, i know that as a season ticket holder i question ever seeing another game.
