The weekend is here and that means lacrosse. This weekend there are multiple big game both in and out of conference. For the most part conference play really get’s underway this weekend as most teams fully get into their conference schedule now. One of the biggest matchups of this weekend is also one of the biggest games on the year, and certainly in their respective conference. Cornell-Yale will surly draw plenty of eyes as that one will be on ESPNNews on Saturday evening. Notre Dame-Virginia and Duke-Towson are two other games that plenty will be watching.

Something to note is that the Ohio State-Denver game has been cancelled. The Pioneers can not fly out of the Denver Airport due to the bomb cyclone that they are getting out there. Unfortunately, that game will not be made up.

Marquee Games

Cornell @ Yale

It’s a rematch of the 2018 Ivy League Championship this weekend as Ivy League play get’s started.  This one will be a dog fight as a tough Yale squad welcomes in a very talented Cornell team. One of the big areas to watch will be at the faceoff dot as Yale’s TD Ierlan will look to dominate yet again. That will give Yale’s offense a huge boost and get guys like Jackson Morrill, Matt Gaudet, and others more touches. Cornell is a very offensive heavy team with Jeff Teat and Clakre Petterson leading the way. They will be able to get their opportunities, but the biggest question for the Big Red in this one is their defense. I know we all can’t wait to see another Chris Fake vs Jeff Teat battle!

Notre Dame @ Virginia

This should be an interesting one as the Irish travel to take on the Cavalieres. Both of these teams have had some pretty good offensive performances this year, and we could totally see a shootout in his one. Virginia, led by Michael Kraus, Matt Moore, and others, will be seeing one of their biggest test of the year. Notre Dame’s defense is and has been one of the best in the country for some time now. It will be interesting to see how that Cavaliers offense matches up there. For Notre Dame they need to use the firepower they have with Brendan Gleasson and others to keep that offense going. Also look for some younger guys to step up like we have seen from the Irish over the past few weeks. This is going to be a very good one for sure!

Towson @ Duke

A big out-of conference game here as the Towson Tigers travel to take on the Duke Blue Devils. These are two of the best teams in the country and they have most certainly played like it thus far. The Blue Devils have been deadly when let loose. Joe Robertson and Brad Smith are just two of many guys that cane cause trouble for any defense. Now the Towson defense will have trouble with Duke, but if they can perform like they did against Loyola they have a huge chance to win. A big question mark will be how the Towson offense matches up against the Duke defense with guys like JT Giles-Harris and Cade Van Rapphorst. That Towson offense of Brendan Sunday, Brody Mclean, and others will really have to be stellar against that tough Duke defense. Although, Towson should get a possession advantage with Alex Woodall at the faceoff dot.

Other Marquee Games

Delaware @ Johns Hopkins

Villanova @ Maryland

Rutgers @ Syracuse
