It was a busy weekend of high school lacrosse across the bluegrass. We saw a number of games that were blowouts and a few close one’s as well. After this weekend’s action there is only one team in the state that is still undefeated – Collegiate.
Here is a rundown of all the action from this weekend:
Friday, March 22nd
Trinity 10, Eureka (Mo.) 7
It was all Shamrocks in this one. Trinity was able to take control early and held it all the way through. Although Eureka was able to go on a few runs and hang in there, the Shamrocks were the much better team in this one.
South Oldham 21, Oldham County 8
In an Oldham County battle, the Dragons were able to take down the Colonels in dominating fashion. The Dragons got out early and never looked back, running away with this one.
Scott County 28, Lafayette 3
This one was a blowout as Scott County recorded their biggest known margin of victory. It was all Cardinals as they dominated the Generals in every area of the game, taking home the W.
Male 14, Atherton 3
The Bulldogs secured their fourth win on the season as they took down Atherton in a dominating win. The Bulldogs were able to win in pretty much every category as they took down the Rebels.
Saturday, March 23rd
Ballard 10, Tates Creek 9 (Overtime)
This was a close on the entire way and overtime would be needed to decide a winner. After the first quarter, the Commodores got out to a 2-0 lead but Ballard got things going in the second, taking a 4-3 halftime lead. Things remained very close throughout the second half with Tates Creek tying it up in the fourth a forcing overtime. The Bruins would be able to secure the OT win.
Eastern 9, Brownsburg (Ind.) 6
It was a close one on Saturday as Eastern was able to secure a home win over Brownsburg (Ind.).
Eureka (Mo.) 10, South Oldham 9
After taking a close loss to Trinity the day before Eureka bounced back with a win over South Oldham, going 1-1 during their trip to the Louisville area. This was a very close one the whole way and a big fourth quarter performance would be able to seal the deal.
South Warren 10, KCD 8
The Spartans won their third game as they took down the Bearcats in a close one on Saturday. It was a close one, but a second quarter run would prove to be the difference in this one.
Scott County 7, Elizabethtown 6
Scott County improved their win streak to four with this win on Saturday. The Cardinals were able to get things together after a slow start and pulled out the win.
Trinity 10, Moeller (Oh.) 9
The Shamrocks got revenge for last years home defeat as they took down the Crusaders on the road. The Shamrocks started strong with a 4-2 lead at the end of the first and rode that through the game and warded off a late game comeback to secure the win.
Henry Clay 17, Fredrick Douglass 5
The Broncos are undefeated no more as the Blue Devils gave them their first loss of the season. Henry Clay dominated and flexed their muscle in this one, securing a big win over Fredrick Douglass.
St. Xavier 26, Manual 3
As expected, the Tigers blew out the Crimson in a game that was never going to be close anyway.
Madison County LC 17, North Hardin 8
The Madison County Mavericks were able to dominate the Trojans in a blowout win in Bardstown.
Covington Catholic 4, Woodford County 2
It was a close one as the Colonels secured their second win of the season, defeating the Yellow Jackets by a slim margin.
