The Villanova Wildcats escaped a late game comeback from the Brown Bears on the road to secure the 10-9 Monday night win. The Wildcats dominated most of the game, until Brown finally found their stride in the fourth and nearly came back to tie it, but ultimately fell short.

Connor Kirst led the Wildcats with 4 points (2G/2A), while Keegan Khan also had 4 points (1G/3A) in the win. Matt Campbell also contributed with 3 points (2G/1A). In goal for the Wildcats, freshman Will Vitton made 12 saves.

For Brown Jack Kniffin and Ryan Aughavin each had a hat-trick. Darin Cook also had 3 points (1G/2A) as well. Phil Goss had another amazing performance in cage, making 17 saves in the Bears loss.

Brown got the scoring started with a Ryan Aughavin goal less than a minute into the game. After that it was all Villanova for the rest of the first quarter. The Wildcats ended the first with a four-goal run, two of which came from Keegan Khan. That would help the Wildcats get out to a 4-1 lead heading into the second.

Villanova extended their ru to five goals early on in the second. After that Brown started to kick things into gear. The Bears were able to cut the Wildcats lead to 5-3 after a two-goal run midway through the second. Villanova followed that up with a  two-goal run of their own to push their lead back out four.

The first half ended with Brown getting some energy off of a Jackson Newsome goal with just six seconds left in the half to make it a 7-4 Wildcats lead heading into the locker room.

Brown kept that energy going, scoring right out of the gate to start the second half. While the Bears were playing much better in the third, the Wildcats were able to get two goals and push their lead out to 9-5 heading into the fourth quarter, which was a much different story then the rest of the game.

After Villanova scored first to start the fourth quarter Brown went on a huge run. The Bears caught fire scoring four straight, including two by way of Jack Kniffin. George Grell made it a one-goal 10-9 game with just 1:34 left on the clock. Villanova was able to get possession off the faceoff and run the clock down. A last second try from Brown would fail as Villanova walked away victorious.
