Another exciting Saturday of college lacrosse is in the books. In today’s action we saw Syracuse fail to comeback all the way as Notre Dame took the win at home, Yale get beat on the road by Penn in triple overtime, and North Carolina make a statement win. After today there are just two winless teams left as Bellarmine defeated Mercer. That leaves Binghamton and St. Bonaventure as the only two teams left that have yet to win a game.
Denver secured a win over Georgetown, giving Bill Tierney his 400th career win. Tierney is just the second coach in DI lacrosse to reach 400 wins in their career.
Notre Dame 13, Syracuse 10
After taking an 11-3 halftime lead, the Irish were able to survive a second half comeback by the Orange to secure the 13-10 home win. Bryan Costabile had 5 goals for the Irish in the win.
Penn 13, Yale 12
This one was close the entire way and would need three overtimes to decide a winner. Sam Handley netted the game winner for the Quakers in triple overtime, giving Penn their biggest win of the season. Yale’s Jack Starr and Penn’s Reid Junkin were outstanding in cage, especially in all three of the overtime periods.
North Carolina 10, Duke 8
In a statement win for the Tar Heels they were able to take down rival Duke. It was a pretty close one the whole way but North Carolina came out on top.
Air Force 14, Jacksonville
The Falcons flexed their muscle and secured a big home conference win over the Dolphins from Jacksonville.
Towson 10, Hofstra 9
The Tigers avoided the upset as they took down Hofstra in a very narrow victory. Bridy McLean and Grant Maloof led the way for the Tigers withe 3 goals each.
