NLL Friday Nigh Recap: Georgia Takes First Place in The East, Toronto Edges Buffalo in Overtime

Even with just two games on Friday night we still saw plenty of exciting action. In Toronto the Rock took the Bandits to overtime and won off of a goal from Brandon Slade. With the win Toronto captured the season series over Buffalo. Down in Georgia the Swarm took down the Seals in a game that pegged the Staats brothers against each other for the first time in their career. 

 A few Toronto Rock players hit career milestones tonight in their home win over Buffalo. Toronto goalie Nick Rose recorded his 4,000th career save and Dan Lintner tallied his 100th career point. 

With Georgia beating San Diego and Toronto defeating Buffalo, Georgia has now moved into first place in the Eastern Division. 

Georgia 17, San Diego 10 

The Swarm pretty much had control of this game the whole way through. The Swarm were fantastic on both ends of the floor, playing with a lot of aggression and using that to their advantage.

The Seals were taking a beating all game long but they were able to hang in there, only trailing 10-6 at the half. While it was a slower more defensive heavy third quarter, the Swarm blew this one open in the fourth quarter with a five-goal run to help them secure the 17-10 win. 

Georgia was led by Holden Cattoni who tallied 8 points (3G/5A) and Shayne Jackson with 7 points (3G/4A). Lyle Thompson also had 6 points (4G/2A) while Randy Staats had 7 points (1G/6A). On the defensive end the Swarm were led by Alex Crepinsek who scooped up 6 loose balls and caused 1 turnover.

San Diego was led by Dan Dawson who tallied 6 points (3G/3A) and Garrett Billings with 4 assist and 1 goal. Garrett Epple caused 1 turnover and scooped up 6 loose balls on the defensive end.

Mike Poulin made 38 saves off of 47 shots on goal for Georgia while Kevin Orleman also saw time, making just 1 save. Frank Scigliano made 35 saves off of 49 shots on goal for San Diego, while Tyler Carlson also got some action, making 7 saves off of  10 shots on goal.

Toronto 12, Buffalo 11

It was a tight one in Toronto on Friday night as the Rock took the season series over the Bandits with an overtime win. This was a tight one the whole way as things were tied at 3 going into the second quarter. In the second Toronto was able to get out ahead and take a 6-4 lead into the half. A switch flipped for Buffalo in the third as they scored four straight to take the 8-6 lead before Toronto got two of their own and tied it up heading into the fourth.

While it was very back-and-forth in the fourth quarter, Buffalo was able to take a two goal lead midway though. Two goals late in the game for Toronto tied things up and forced overtime. After scoring the game tying goal Brandon Slade scored the game winning goal for Toronto to secure the 12-11 win. 

Buffalo was led by Dhane Smith with 7 points (5G/2A) and Corey Small who tallied 4 points (2G?2A). Shawn Evans also had 5 assist for the Bandits. Mitch de Snoo scooped up 8 loose balls and caused 1 turnover. 

Rob Hellyer led Toronto with 7 points (4G/3A), while Adam Jones also had 7 points (2G/5A) in his return after being out for a few weeks. Billy Hostrawer scooped up 13 loose balls and caused 2 turnovers.
