The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) has announced that the first round of the PLL playoffs will be played at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on September 6th and 7th. This is great news for lacrosse fans in Ohio as they have been proven to support pro lacrosse in the past, and the game is growing in the state as a whole.
Columbus is the ninth city that the PLL has announced they will visit during their inaugural 2019 season. Columbus joins Boston, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington, D.C, and Los Angeles, and San Jose as host cities for the 2019 PLL season.
MAPFRE Stadium will be the host venue during the PLL’s stop in Columbus. The stadium has hosted many other pro sports events such as the Women’s FIFA World Cup, MLS finals, and more pro soccer events. MAPFRE Stadium is the home of the Columbus Crew of the MLS.
Bringing the PLL to Ohio is a very good move as there are already pro lacrosse fans in Ohio. With the Ohio Machine of the MLL folding, the PLL will present lacrosse fans in Ohio with their only chance to go to a pro lacrosse game in their backyard. Ohio lacrosse fans are certainly excited about this move from the PLL.
