The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) has announced that they will make a stop in Hamilton, Ontario on August 16-17 at Tim Hortons Field. This is the first stop the PLL has announced that is in Canada. This announcement comes a day after the league announced their stop in Denver.
Hamilton is the eleventh city that the PLL has announced they will visit during their inaugural 2019 season. Hamilton joins Boston, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington, D.C, and Los Angeles, and San Jose, Columbus, and Denver as host cities for the 2019 PLL season.
Tim Hortons Field will play host to the PLL during their stop in Hamilton. The stadium is home to the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL and has hosted events as big as the CFL’s Grey Cup (Their Super Bowl). Tim Hortons Stadium was also use during the 2015 Pan American games as well.
Ontario is a hotbed for lacrosse in Canada. While box is much bigger in Ontario, pro field lacrosse has been in Hamilton before with the former Hamilton Nationals of the MLL. Bringing back pro field lacrosse to Canada is something the pro game has needed to do and it os finally happening with the PLL.
