As we head into week nineteen of the NLL season, there is one playoff spot left up for grabs. That one spot is in the West and the two teams that can potentially clinch that final spot are Colorado and Vancouver.
Colorado just needs one win to clinch that final playoff spot in the West. They can clinch that spot with a win against San Diego on Friday or a win against Saskatchewan next week. The Mammoth can also clinch a playoff spot if Vancouver loses one game.
In Vancouver’s case they will need to win two games and have Colorado loses two games to be able to clinch that final playoff spot in the West.
In the East every playoff spot has been grabbed, and now teams are fighting for seeding positions and first-round home games in the playoffs. Buffalo and Georgia are both fighting for that top seed in the East.
Georgia can clinch the top seed in the East and throughout the playoffs two different ways. If Georgia wins just one game and Buffalo loses one game then Georgia clinches that top seed. They also gain that top seed if Buffalo loses their next two games.
There are two different scenarios where Buffalo can capture the top seed in the East and throughout the playoffs. If Buffalo wins their last two games against New England this weekend and against San Diego next weekend then they clinch the top seed in the East. They can also clinch that top seed if Georgia loses their next two games.
The Toronto Rock can secure a first round home playoff game with one win and two Buffalo losses.
In the West the top seed is also still up for grabs, and Saskatchewan, Calgary, and San Diego are the three teams in contention for claiming tat top seed.
Saskatchewan can grasp the top seed in the West one win, against Calgary on Saturday or Colorado next weekend, or if San Diego goes 1-1 in their final two games of the season. The Rush can also gain a first round home playoff game with two San Diego losses.
In San Diego’s case, they can clinch the top seed in the West if they win their last two games, against Colorado this weekend and Buffalo next weekens, and Saskatchewan looses their next two games. The Seals secure a first round home playoff game with one win or if Saskatchewan beats Calgary.
It’s a little more complicated for The Calgary Roughnecks to clinch the top seed in the West. Calgary needs to win against Saskatchewan, two San Diego losses, and Colorado to beat Saskatchewan. They can grab a first round home playoff game if they beat Saskatchewan and two San Diego losses or they beat Saskatchewan, two San Diego losses, and Colorado beats Saskatchewan.
