The Marist Red Foxes defeated the Quinnipiac Bobcats in a very tight and entertaining back-and-forth battle. This game was complete bonkers as both sides kept taking hacks at each other. The Red Foxes held their own on both ends of the field as they walked away with the win and punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament.
Quinnipiac was led in this game by Foster Cuomo who tallied 6 points (4G,2A). In goal for the Bobcats, Nick DiMuccio made 11 saves with a .423 save percentage.
For Marist, they were led by Jamison Embury with 6 points (4G,2A) in the win. Jake Weinman and Joe Tierney each netted a hat-tick as well. In goal for the Red Foxes, Jake Macgregor made 12 saves with a .462 save percentage.
Quinnipiac strike first before Marist tied things up at 1 early on in the first quarter. The Bobcats then exploded on offense, going on a three-goal run to take a 4-1 lead and gain a to of energy midway through the first. The first quarter ended with some back-and-forth playas Marist was able to get going on both ends and make it a 6-4 Quinnipiac lead heading into the second.
That back-and-forth play continued though the second quarter and throughout most if the game as well. In the second, Quinnipiac scored first to stretch their lead out before Marist answered with a two-goal run and make it a one-goal 7-6 Quinnipiac lead midway through. After the Bobcats pushed their lead back out again Marist scored two late in the quarter, including a Jamison Embury goal in the final minute to tie things up at 8 heading into the half.
Both teams were firing on all cylinders, especially on the offensive end. Marist scored the first goal of the third, stretching their run to three goals and taking a 9-8 lead. Quinnipiac quickly answered tying things back up at 9. Joey Tierney scored two in a row for the Red Foxes to give Marist the 11-9 lead. The Bobcats woke up once again as they tied things back up at 11. The quarter ended with Marist getting two late goals to take the 13-11 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Marist got out to a three-goal 14-11 lead to start the fourth as they kept on rolling. Foster Cuomo got the Bobcats rolling again, tallying his third goal of the game to cut the Marist lead back to two. Just a few minutes later Cuomo scored another one coming out of a timeout to make it a one-goal game yet again.
After some huge defensive stands on both ends JoJo Pirreca stung the the back of the net to give Marist the 15-13 lead. It wouldn’t be long before Quinnipiac answered as they scored off the faceoff to make it a one-goal game again. The Marist defense was able to hold off the Bobcats in the final minute and secure the 15-14 win.
