Notre Dame has picked a big commitment in the 2020 class as Auburn (N.Y.)/Sweetlax defenseman Ross Burgmaster has committed to the Irish. The defenseman is rated as a 4-star and currently ranked as the number 77th player in the 2020 class, according to Inside Lacrosse. Burgmaster is a dual-sport athlete, playing Hockey as well.
Burgmaster was originally committed to Albany back in 2016 before the recruiting rules changed. Burgmaster’s two older brothers, Jack and Alex, both play for Albany and are a senior and a sophomore. Burgmaster decommitted from back in mid-September.
He isn’t the biggest defenseman out there, but he is very strong and is able to lockdown his opponent. Burgmaster is a great off-ball defender as he is great at timing slides and recovering as well. He is a hard-nosed and aggressive takeaway defender who can fit into Notre Dame’s system quite nicely.
Burgmaster joins a 2020 class at Notre Dame that is highlighted by 5-star midfielder Carter Parlette out of Ponte Vedra (Fla.). Of the six recruits currently committed to Notre Dame in the 2020 class, Burgmaster is the only defenseman and the second highest rated prospect.
