The first round of the Commonwealth Lacrosse League (CLL) has been set as the play-in games took place on Wednesday night. Each winner moves on to play one of the top two seeds in their section of the bracket.
Tates Creek 14, Bluegrass Bulldogs 9
The Bluegrass Bulldogs inaugural season comes to an end as Tates Creek secured the 14-9 win. Tates Creek was able to get to a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and then took a 8-4 lead at the half. While the Bluegrass Bulldogs did comeback strong in the second half, it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback as Tates Creek moves on. The Commodores will face Covington Catholic in the first round on Friday at 6:30pm.
Bryan Station 11, Sayre 9
It was a close on as the Bryan Station Defenders came back from down 0-2 at the end of the first and secured the 11-9 over the Sayre Spartans. After things were tied 4-4 at the half, Bryan Station used a big third quarter to take a 7-5 lead heading into the final period of play. Bryan Station was able to hold on in the fourth and secure the win. The Defenders will play Henry Clay in the first round on Friday.
Dixie Heights 16, Lafayette 0
This one was never in question as Dixie Height annihilated Lafayette in a 16-0 victory. The Colonels will take on Fredrick Douglass in the first round of the tournament on Friday night.
Central Hardin 14, Collins 10
Just like the regular season meeting, it was a pretty close on as the Bruins took down the Titans 14-10 to move on to the first round. Central Hardin will take on the defending champions Lexington Catholic in the first round on Friday night.
Lexington Christian 19, North Hardin 4
In a blowout victory for Lexington Christian they downed North Hardin 19-4 to move on to the first round. The Eagles will face South Warren in the first round of the tournament on Friday.
