Archers LC took down Chrome LC in the inaugural PLL game, and it overtime as well. They got hot early and were able to keep that energy for the majority of the game.
The impressive offensive play from Archers helped them get through a few big runs from Chrome, and comeback to force overtime in the fourth quarter. Will Manny scored the game-winner for Archers in overtime, giving them their first win.
Chrome was led by Ned Crotty with 3 goals while Justin Guterding had 4 points (2G,2A). Jordan Wolf also had 4 assist. In cage John Galloway made 8 saves, anchoring the Chrome defense.
Will Manny led the way for Archers with 4 goals while Marcus Holman had 5 points (3G,2A). Tom Schreiber also had a 3 points (1G,2A). Adam Ghitelman made 11 save in cage.
It just took eleven seconds for Archers LC to get their offense going with Stephen Kelly scoring off the opening faceoff. Kelly’s game opening goal led to a four-goal run for Archers to start off the game very hot.
While Archers dominated possession through the majority of the first, Chrome finally got into sync in the final minutes of the first. Jordan MacIntosh finally got Chrome on the board with an outside rip in the final seconds of the first, making it a 4-1 Archers led heading into the second.
After Marcus Holman tallied his second of the day, putting Archers up 5-1 early in the second. Chrome was able to answer with two straight goals from Will Haus and Mike O’Neil.
Will Manny was able to get Archers offense going again, pushing their lead back out to 6-3 midway though the third. After some back-and-forth defensive play on both sides Ned Crotty ripped one from outside, getting Chrome going again late in the third.
Trailing 6-4 heading into the third, Chrome really stepped up, starting the third with a two-goal run to tie things up at 6. Each team kept taking shots at each other, tying things up at 7 midway through the third.
Archers looked to have lost a little energy early in the third. Tom Schreiber finally got Archers going again with a two-pointer, putting them up 9-7. The back-and-forth nature of the game ensued through late in the third. The Justin Guterding tied things up at 10 for Chrome with just seconds left in the third, turning the corner to greatness.
Right off the bat in the fourth John Galloway made a huge save that led to a fastbreak goal from Ty Thompson on the other end, giving Chrome their first lead of the game at 11-10. Just a few minutes later Ned Crotty put Chrome up 12-10 with an inside finish.
Marcus Holman tallied his third goal of the game midway through the third, cutting the Chrome lead to 12-11. After a long stretch of heavy defensive play Ben McIntosh got his third coming out of a timeout, tying things at 12 for Archers with a minute to play.
Archers had a chance to win it with Scott Ratliff taking it coast to coast but the Chrome defense stood tall, forcing a turnover and gaining possession back. Chrome couldn’t get anything in the final seconds in the fourth, taking things to overtime.
After multiple opportunities on both sides Will Manny found the back of the net, winning it for Archers in overtime.
