Archers LC is now 2-0 after defeating Redwoods 10-9 in their week two matchup of the inaugural PLL season. Archers were able to overcome a tough Redwoods defense and take advantage of every opportunity to secure the win.

Redwoods were led by Joe Walters, Clarke Petterson, and Sergio Perkovic with 2 goals each. Greg Gurelian went 13-for-22 at the faceoff dot while Tim Troutner Jr. made 12 saves in cage.

Tom Schreiber led Archers with 3 points (2G,1A) while Marcus Holman also had 3 points (1G,2A). Will Manny and Ben McIntosh also had 2 goals each. In cage Adam Ghitleman made 14 saves, anchoring the Archers defense in the win.

After some good early defensive play from both it was all Redwoods as they dominated on both ends of the field through most of the first quarter, really using their defense to help generate offense.

Clarke Petterson got the scoring going, getting Redwoods on the board first. Joe Walters tallied the second goal of the game on the Redwoods very next possession, giving them a 2-0 lead early on.

Just minutes later Archers got going on offense, tying things up with 5:17 in the first. A Will Manny goal on the doorstep pushed the Archers run to three straight goals, giving them their first lead of the game at 3-2.

The Archers run continued early with the first as Stephen Kelly scored right off of the faceoff, putting Archers up 4-2. Redwoods finally answered with Joe Walters and Sergio Salcido scoring back-to-back goals, tying things up at 4 early in the second.

Redwoods continued to win their battles on both ends of the field, taking a 6-4 lead into the half. The Redwoods defense really stepped up, limiting every opportunity that Archers got through the second quarter.

Archers were able to catch the Redwoods defense sleeping early on in the third as Tom Schreiber, Marcus Holman, and Ryan Ambler scored three straight, giving Redwoods a 7-6 lead. Matt Kavanagh answered for Redwoods, giving them their first goal of the half and tying things up at 7.

After some great defensive play from both though the middle of the third Brent Adams found the back of the cage for Redwoods, giving them an 8-7 lead heading into the fourth.

Down two men, Redwoods killed the penalty to start the fourth, but turned it over on the clear, giving Archers possession back. Tom Schreiber was able to convert for Archers off that turnover, tying things up at 8 early on.

After a Sergio Perkovic goal to put Redwoods up 9-8 midway through the fourth both defenses stepped up big time down the stretch. Archers went on a three-goal run late in the game, including two from Ben McIntosh, to secure the 10-9 win for Archers.

Next week in Chicago Archers LC will take on Whipsnakes LC and Redwoods will take on Chaos LC.
