On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Wings and Buffalo Bandits brokered a deal that would send goalie Doug Buchan, a 2020 second round draft pick, and a conditional second-round pick to Buffalo while Philadelphia receives goalie Zach Higgins, fourth-round pick in 2020, and a conditional third-round pick.
In Buffalo, Buchan will be a full time back up behind Matt Vinc, one of the most decorated goalies of all time. Buchan split time with Davide DiRusico in Philadelphia last season, but did rise as the primary option late in the season.
Buchan made his NLL debut last season with Philadelphia, playing in 17 games. The 24 year made 532 saves with a .749 save percentage and 13.17 goals against average. He was drafted in second round of the 2015 NLL Draft by the Saskatchewan Rush.
Higgins comes to Philadelphia after appearing in just 11 games over the past two seasons with Buffalo. Last season Higgins made 47 saves with a .783 save percentage and 15.03 goals against average.
A seven-year veteran, Higgins spent time time in Calgary, and played for both the Georgia Swarm and Minnesota Swarm. His best season was in Minnesota in 2015 when he was the primary goalie, playing a career-high 830 minutes and having a save percentage of .765.
