With just three weeks left in the regular season the PLL playoff push is real, and nobody wants to be playing for the number one draft pick instead of the PLL Crown. Coming into week eight there are two teams that could potentially clinch a playoff berth.
Chaos LC warded off Whipsnakes LC two weeks ago, getting payback for week one and keeping them searching for a playoff berth. Now, with both Chaos and Whipsnakes sitting atop the standings with a 5-2 records they both have an opportunity to secure a spot in the playoffs this weekend.
On Saturday, Chaos LC can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Redwoods LC, and Whipsnakes LC can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Chrome LC. A Whipsnakes win would also eliminate Chrome from the playoff picture as the only way they can stay alive is to run through the rest of the season, have Atlas LC and Archers LC lose two games, and have a higher scoring differential than both.
For Chaos, Saturday will be a rematch of week three when they beat Redwoods LC 12-11 in overtime. While it was close last time, things have changed a lot on both sides. Redwoods didn’t have Jules Heningburg last time these two teams meet, but they also didn’t the the troubles they now face at the faceoff dot with an injured Greg Gurelian.
Chaos is playing some of their best lacrosse right now with everyone clicking on both ends it seems like. They have also proved that they can pull out big wins even without their full attack line, as shown last game against Whipsnakes. Chaos are likely the favorite coming into this game due to that very reason, but the Redwoods defense is never an easy task to handle.
For Whipsnakes, they will be facing Chrome LC in a rematch of week two. Whipsnakes took the first game 12-11 in overtime and will likely be heavy favorites coming into this one. They have a stellar offense and defense, but they just can’t allow as many opportunities as they did last game. If Whipsnakes stick to their game they should come out victorious.
Chrome has improved a ton over the course of the season, but their trend of blowing games late has seemed to continue. Their offense can catch fire just like we saw against Archers in week eight and they can dominate possession with Connor Farrell at the faceoff dot. Chrome just can’t make those stupid mistakes and bad reads on either end of they can and will blow another one.
