Chaos LC was able to fight through a very back-and-forth battle, defeating Archers LC in overtime. In the end it was defense that made the difference as Jarrod Neumann blocked a Will Manny shot to force overtime. The Chaos defense also showed up again in overtime, holding the Archers offense which had been buzzing late in the game. Josh Byrne scored the game-winner for Chaos in overtime on a low angle step down shot.
With the win, Chaos has clinched a top two seed in the PLL playoffs. They were the first team to clinch a playoff berth last week with their win over Redwoods.
Defense and impressive goalie play was the name of the game early in the first, as neither team could seem to break the ice. Midway through the quarter, Mark Glicini scored in transition off a Blaze Riorden kick save to get Chaos on the board first. Archers answered quickly with Will Manny finding the back of the net off a Scott Ratliff skip pass to tie things up at 1. Both sides continued to go back-and-forth in the first with Chaos being able to take a 3-2 lead into the second.
In the second period, the back-and-forth nature of the game ensued as both teams kept answering each other. In addition, there was a lot of flashy behind-the-back action in the second with Josh Byrne and Ryan Ambler scoring with a BTB finish for Chaos and Archers, respectively. Ben McIntosh scored right on the crease off a feed from Tom Schreiber in the final seconds of the second quarter, cutting the Chaos lead to 6-5 heading into the half.
Ben McIntosh scored right out of the gate, tying things at 6 for Archers early in the third. Following some heavy defensive play on both ends, Danny Eipp put Archers up 7-6 with a diving goals late in the quarter. Chaos finally got going with another great transition sequence that ended with Mark Glicini finding the back of the cage.
After an outside rip from Myles Jones, Chaos headed into the four quarter with a slim 8-7 lead heading into the forth quarter. Following a hustle play from Joey Sankey to cause a Chaos turnover in transition, Marcus Holman found the back of the net to tie things up at 8 for Archers with four minutes on the clock.
Chaos answered with a quick two-goal run to take a 10-8 lead late in the fourth. Christian Cuccinello and Tom Schreiber scored two straight for Archers, tying things at 10 with just over a minute in the game. Archers had a chance to win it in the final seconds, but Jarrod Neumann blocked the shot from Will Manny to force overtime.
After a lot of back-and-forth action in the overtime period, Josh Bryrne found the back of the net on a low angle shot to secure the win for Chaos.
