Albany was upset city on Friday night, as Atlas LC upset Chaos LC 12-9 in the final regular season game for both squads. While it was a great all around performance from Atlas, their defense really put on a show and helped them secure the win.
Off a feed from Myles Jones, Kevin Buchanan fired a rocket to get Chaos on the board first. Jake Richard answered for Atlas just a few minutes later, running right through the teeth of the Chaos defense. The back-and-forth play continued through the rest of the first with things being toed at 3 heading int the second.
It was more of a defensive battle in the second as not much offense was created until near the end of the quarter. A quick two-goal run for Atlas that included a Trevor Baptiste goal right off the faceoff really gave them a lot of energy late in the quarter. Troy Reh answered with two-point bomb, tying things at five late in the half. Noah Richard scored the final goal of the half, putting Atlas up 6-5 heading into third.
An early goal from Connor Buczek helped spark the Atlas offense in the third quarter as they exploded with a four-goal run. Chaos finally broke through the stout Atlas defense with Miles Thompson converting off an insane feed from Dhane Smith in the dying seconds of the quarter.
Down 11-6 midway through the fourth, Josh Byrne scored two straight for Chaos to cut the Atlas lead to 11-8. Connor Fields ripped one from midrange late in the game to extend the Chaos run, cutting the Atlas lead to 11-9.
Atlas was able to prevail, stepping up on both ends down the stretch to limit Chaos’ looks and securing the win 12-9 win.
albany was the best locale by far.
