For the first time in history, the Syracuse Orange will take the trip two hours southeast to take on UAlbany at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium on April 3rd , adding on to an in-state battle that has become more and more of a rivalry game in recent years. This years matchup between the two will mark the 19th meeting between the two.
UAlbany comes into this historic game looking to avenge a 13-5 loss at Syracuse last season, the largest margin of victory for Syracuse in the series since 2006 when they won 16-7 to open the season.
In the series, Syracuse leads 17-1. While UAlbany came very close with some overtime games and one-goal loses against Syracuse in the past, their first win against the Orange came in 2018 when they devoured them 15-3, the largest margin of Victory ever seen in the series.
This game will be one to circle for sure as both teams look to be strong with some exciting newcomers and returners. For Syracuse, they bring in Loyola transfer Chase Scanlan and bring back star midfielder Tucker Dordevic who missed last season due to injury, in addition to plenty of others. UAlbany brings back leading scorer Jakob Patterson and brings in highly touted freshman attackman Isaiah Skidders out of IMG Academy (N.Y.).
In addition, with this game being played later on in the season, unlike recent years, this game could mean more or less for either team depending on where they stand at this point in the season.
