Week four of the CUFLA marked the end of the September slate of games as we move into October with week five. Coming into week five, McGill (6-0) is the only team in the East left undefeated while Brock (3-0) and Western (3-0) are the only two teams in the West that remain unbeaten. Also in the East, Trent (5-1) sits in second place with their only loss coming to McGill.
McGill 10, Bishop’s 8
McGill (6-0) defeated Bishop’s (1-5) on Thursday, escaping a very aggressive fourth quarter comeback from Bishop’s. McGill dominate much of the game as they held an 8-3 lead heading into the fourth, but Bishop’s exploded in the fourth as they scored five goals in the quarter, including three-straight goals from Matthew Patterson late in game. In the end, McGill was able to hold off the Bishop’s comeback down the stretch and avoid the upset.
Bishop’s was led by Matthew Patterson with four points (3G/1A) and McGill was led by Andrew Chase who tallied three goals in the win.
Nipissing 11, Ottawa 10 (OT)
Despite a 5-0 second quarter from Ottawa, this one was back-and-forth all game long with each team just continuing to answer each other. Nipissing was able to fight back from down 8-7 heading into the fourth and forced overtime. Bo Peliter netted the overtime game winner for Nipissing.
Nipissing was led by Tanner Poole with five points (4G/1A) and Bo Peliter who netted for goals in the win. Frederick Hartley led Ottawa with four points (2G/2A) while Wade Miner also put up three points (2G/1A).
