The Saskatchewan Rush have traded defenseman Nik Bilic to the Vancouver Warriors in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2022 NLL draft. The Warriors secured the pick in a trade early in the day that sent Anthony Malcom to New England for the pick.

An eight-year veteran, Bilic has spent the past six years with the Rush, helping them to three NLL championships and four NLL finals appearances. The Burnaby, BC native appeared in 101 total games with the Rush, tallied 58 points (16G/42A), chased down 371 loose balls and recorded 110 caused turnovers.

In a press release, Warriors Head Coach Chris Gill said, “Nik is gritty, speedy and hard to play against; he makes our team better instantly,”

Last season, Bilic helped lead a “depleted” Saskatchewan defense, recording 11 caused turnovers and chasing down 48 loose balls in 16 games. He also had five assists last season, as well.

Now playing in his home province, Bilic is expected to play a big role in the Warriors defense this season, playing alongside the likes of Matt Beers, Ian Hawkbee, and others. Bilic should help beef up this Warriors defense; which struggled mightily at times last season.
