San Diego to Host Colorado in Las Vegas

After rumblings first surfaced a few months ago about the possibility of an NLL game being played in Las Vegas, Nevada this year, the NLL has officially announced that the San Diego Seals’ home game against the Colorado Mammoth on February 1st will be played in Las Vegas. 

With Orleans Arena playing host for this monumental contest, this marks the first NLL game to ever be played in the city of Las Vegas. 

In a press release, Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz said, “As we continue to expand our amazing product to fans across North America and around the world, we are always looking to our future, and are excited to be working with Seals owner Joe Tsai, Steve Govett,  the Orleans Arena and all our partners to create this unique event in Las Vegas on the City’s biggest weekend of the year.”

This game is monumental for the NLL and the sport of lacrosse. While the entertainment capital of the world is certainly a hot bed for any league and will always draw fans, the NLL’s success in Las Vegas could lead to more neutral site games and even a team in Las Vegas down the road. 

“The additional benefit of showcasing professional box lacrosse to a new audience is exciting. The atmosphere at Orleans Arena is going to be electric, and we look forward to exposing the sport to a brand-new fan base in an iconic city,” said Seals Seals President Steve Govett

In addition to the Seals’s game in Las Vegas, the team’s February 22nd home game against Vancouver also does not list a game location yet either. Rumblings as to where that game will be have already taken off, as well.
