The NLL Preseason slate got underway this weekend with Buffalo, Georgia, Halifax, New England, Rochester, New York, Toronto, and Colorado all suiting up in scrimmages.
Halifax defeated New England 19-9 on Saturday in a scrimmage held at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena (ILA). Halifax went on a 12-3 run in the second half to secure the win. The Thunderbirds were led by Ryan Benesch who had himself a day, tallying seven points (5G/2A) in the first half. Additionally, Jake Lazore made 21 saves off of 24 shots.
In a preseason contest that was held in Buffalo, the New York Riptide and Rochester Knighthawks went head-to-head. New York was able to get up 5-2 at the end of the first quarter and maintain their lead throughout the contest, winning 15-13.
The Toronto Rock defeated the Colorado Mammoth 16-11 in a preseason contest on Saturday night in Oakville at the TRAC. The Rock got up early and never looked back, despite Colorado never allowing Toronto to fully pull away until late. For Toronto, Adam Jones put up four goals and Dan Dawson tallied seven points (1G/6A).
On Sunday, Halifax defeated Georgia 21-14 in a scrimmage held at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena (ILA). For Halifax, they were able to get ahead 4-0 early in the first quarter and led the entire way. Kyle Jackson and Ryan Benesch had multiple goals for the Thunderbirds. Lyle Thompson led the way Georgia, according to reports.
The Colorado Mammoth defeated the Buffalo Bandits 10-8 in a scrimmaged on Sunday in Buffalo. Things were tight the whole way, but Colorado was able to pull away and secure the narrow victory. For Buffalo, Corey Small led Buffalo with four goals.
