The second weekend of NLL preseason scrimmages took place this weekend as multiple teams suited up in scrimmages in Calgary, Orangeville, Philadelphia, Six Nations, and Vancouver.
Offense seemed to be the common theme across the league this weekend with no team scoring less than 14 points in any scrimmage. Many teams showed just how deep and talented they are on that end of the floor, pouring in goals.
On Saturday afternoon, the New York Riptide defeated the New England Black Wolves 16-10 in Philadelphia. Things stayed tight early on with New York holding a one-goal 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter, but the Riptide offense caught fire in the second and went ahead 8-4 at the half. New York went on a 6-4 run in the fourth to secure the win.
Zach Herrewyers, Tyson Gibson, and Connor Kelly each had a hat-trick in the win for New York. Additionally, Kieran McArdle had two goals and dished out four assists. There were no reported stats for New England.
The Toronto Rock and Rochester Knighthawks drew a 14-14 tie on Saturday night in Orangeville at the TRAC. Rochester started the game on a three-goal run before Adam Jones got Toronto on the board to get their offense going. The Knighthawks were able to hold onto their lead until Dan Dawson tied things up at six in the second quarter. Things were back-and-forth from that point on with Shawn Evans- who was playing in his first preseason game- had the game-tying goal for Rochester make the final 14-14.
No stats were reported from the Toronto vs Rochester scrimmage at the time of writing this article.
The Georgia Swarm defeated the Buffalo Bandits 17-13 in a scrimmage that was held at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. While things were fairly close throughout the game, Buffalo had to comeback in the fourth quarter as Georgia jumped out to a 15-6 lead in the third.
