The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) has announced rules and procedures for their upcoming 2020 Expansion Draft where the seventh lacrosse club will be able to select their first crop of players.
January 13th, 2020 is the date when the original lacrosse clubs must submit their protected players list to the league. Each team will be able to protect 11 players ( 1 goalie and 10 positional players). Any players not protected by their current club will be exposed to the Expansion Draft.
In the Expansion Draft, the seventh club will be able to draft 18 players. No more than four players can be selected from a single existing Lacrosse Club in the Expansion Draft. Once four players have been selected from a club that club then becomes off limits to select from.
Additionally, players who are current active military members or on the rookie holdout list (did not make one appearance on a Travel Roster during 2019 season.) will be exempted from the expansion draft and will not need to be protected by their current club.
Following the Expansion Draft, the six original clubs and the seventh expansion club will be required to submit their updated 25-man roster to the PLL League Office. Players not placed on an active roster will be automatically placed in the PLL Player Pool.
