Each week of the NLL season Lacrosse Bucket will release a Team of The Week. This week’s team is made up of six players, as usual, and includes two forwards, one transition player, two defenseman, and one goalie.
So, without further adieu, here is the Lacrosse Bucket NLL Team of the Week for week six of the 2019-20 NLL season.
Josh Byrne, F, Buffalo Bandits
Simply put, Josh Byrne was on another level on Saturday night as he helped lead the Bandits to a road win in Colorado. Byrne ended the game with a total of eight points (7G/1A), which included a #SCTop10 goal.
Shayne Jackson, F, Georgia Swarm
The Georgia Swarm handed the New England Black Wolves their first loss of the season on Sunday. And a huge piece of the Swarm’s victory was Shayne Jackson, who put up seven points (3G/4A) in the victory.
Jake Withers, T, Halifax Thunderbirds
The third-year defenseman/transition player continued his stellar play on Saturday, helping Halifax take down Calgary on the road. Withers went 27-32 at the faceoff dot and Chased down 12 loose balls, as well.
Brodie Merrill, D, San Diego Seals
The veteran defenseman, Merrill, was crucial in San Diego’s win on Long Island against the New York Riptide. Merrill ended the game with two assists, three caused turnovers, and 10 loose balls.
Andrew Suitor, D, New York Riptide
Despite New York going 0-2 on the weekend loss, 10-year veteran Andrew Suitor made a significant impact on the defensive end in both contest. He chased down 10 loose balls, caused one turnover, and dished out on assist against Philadelphia, while racking up nine loose balls and causing one turnover against San Diego.
Zach Higgins, G, Philadelphia Wings
In Philadelphia’s win over New York on Friday night, Zach Higgins absolutely stood on his head to help anchor the Wings’ back end and help lead them to victory. Higgins ended the game with 51 saves off of 57 shots on goal.
