NLL Saturday Recap: San Diego, Vancouver Both Record Wins at Casinos

Week 10 in the NLL came to a close on Saturday night as the Vancouver Warriors and San Diego Seals each secured a victory. Vancouver went into the Casino and took down New England while San Diego took down Colorado at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Vancouver 10, New England 6 (Box Score)

Joe Resetartis got the Black Wolves on the board just over four minutes into the game. However, Vancouver took over from there. The Black Wolves were never able to establish any kind of run, getting stuffed by the Vancouver defense on more than one occasion. Vancouver went on a four-goal run from midway through the first through early in the second to get ahead 4-1. The run ended with two straight from Keegan Bal. Vancouver went on a few more multi-goal runs in the second half to help them get ahead 6-2 at the end of the third and secure the 10-6 victory. 

Vancouver was led by Mitch Jones (3G/2A),  Keegan Bal (3G/2A), and Sam Clare (1G/4A) who each put up five points in the victory. Joe Resetartis led New England with five points (3G/2A) while Stephen LeBlanc and Callum Carawford each had two assists. 

Eric Penney made 44 saves off of 50 shots on goal for Vancouver and Doug Jamieson made 37 saves off of 45 shots on goal for New England. 

San Diego 17, Colorado 10 (Box Score)

Colorado got off to a hot start, going up 3-1 at the end of the firs. But San Diego soon took over as a Connor Kearnan goal early in the second sparked a 6-1 Seals run through the midway point of the quarter. With goals from Chris Wardle and Eli McLaughlin, the Mammoth were able to find their bearings once again and cut into the San Diego lead. The half ended with a 200-foot shot from Brodie Merrill at the buzzer to put San Diego ahead 8-6. San Diego continued to push the envelop in the third, starting the quarter on a four-goal run. Either Wes Berg or Jeremy Noble were part of all four goals. While Colorado was able to get a bit of momentum at times, the Seals held the energy for most of the second half and rode that wave to victory. 

Casey Jackson led San Diego with eight points (5G/3A) in the win. We Berg also had six points (2G/4A) for the Seals. Eli McLaughlin led Colorado with five points (3G/2A) while Ryan Lee tallied four points (1G/3A). 

Nick Damude made 32 saves off of 42 shots on goal for San Diego and Dillon Ward made 31 saves off of 44 shots on goal for Colorado. Ward was pulled about eight minutes into the fourth and Tyler Carlson finished the game, making five saves off of seven shots on goal.
