Penn State senior defenseman Nick Cardile has announced that he will be returning to Penn State for an extra year. Cardile announced his return on social media on Monday afternoon.
Cardile’s decision comes a week after the NCAA DI Council announced that they would provide a blanket waiver for spring sport athletes to use an extra year of eligibility.
This past season, Cardile led the Nittany Lions in caused turnovers with eight. He also scooped up five ground balls and scored two goals. Cardile missed the Nittany Lions’ final two games of the season.
The West Grove, Pa. native was named a honorable mention All-American last season and made the Big Ten All-Tournament team. Cardile was named a Second Team Media All-American this season by Inside Lacrosse.
Cardile is the second Penn State senior to announce that he will be returning in 2021, following Mac O’Keefe’s announcement last week.
