Penn State defenseman TJ Connellean and High Point midfielder Dalton Sulver have both announced that they will be returning for an extra year in 2021.
“After much reflection with my family, I have realized that I am not ready to say goodbye to Penn State or let go of my teammates, coaches, and you amazing fans,” Connellean said in a statement posted on social media. “I have unfinished business in Happy Valley.”
The Cazenovia, N.Y. native appeared in all seven of the Nittany Lions’ games this past season, starting in the final two against Cornell and Furman. He recorded four caused turnovers, five ground balls, and scored one goal.
Connellean is the fifth Penn State senior to announce that he will take an extra year, following the announcements of attackman Mac O’Keefe, defenseman Nick Cardile, faceoff man Gerard Arceri, and goalie Colby Kneese over the past few weeks.
Sulver also announced his return for the 2021 season via a statement on social media. “Having the opportunity to wear the purple and while again while pursuing an MBA is too great of an opportunity to pass up,” Sulver said in the statement.
A native of Kingwood, Texas, Sulver appeared in all seven of the Pathers’ games in 2020 and started in their final two contest against St. Bonaventure and UMBC. He tallied 12 points (10G/2A), scooped up two ground balls, and caused one turnover.
He is the first High Point senior to announce that he would be returning for an extra year in 2021.
