Delaware senior attackman Charlie Kitchen and senior LSM/defenseman Ryan Shaw have both announced that they will be returning in 2021, taking advantage of the extra year that the NCAA has granted spring sport athletes. Both made their announcements via statements that were posted on Delaware’s Twitter.
“I will be returning for a fifth year to finish business that I wasn’t able to complete during the 2020 season,” Kitchen said in the statement.
Kitchen was a day one starter upon his arrival in Newark as a freshman and has been one of the Blue Hens’ premier offensive players. In the Blue Hens’ six games this past season, Kitchen tallied 27 points (16G/11A). He also scooped up nine ground balls.
“Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to play lacrosse at the University of Delaware and I am honored and humbled to represent the blue and gold alongside my brothers for another year,” Shaw said in a statement.
The Owings Mills, Md. native has seen his role increase each year. This past season, he only played in two games before suffering a season-ending injury prior to the third game of the season. In those two games, he recorded two ground balls and saw some time at the faceoff dot, going 5-for-11 overall.
