Marist attackman Jake Weinman will be coming back for an extra year in 2021, taking advantage of the NCAA’s ruling that grants spring sport athletes an extra year of eligibility due to their seasons getting cut short because of the Coronavirus outbreak. The announcement was made on Marist lacrosse’s Twitter account Monday morning.
“Throughout the last month, I have had the opportunity to discuss with my family and teammates the decision to return to Marist for another year. During that process I determined that the chance to play the game I love with the people I love for another year was simply too much to walk away from.” Weinman said in the statement
Weinman, who led the MAAC in goals per game, has been one of the Red Foxes’ most prolific goal scorers ever since he stepped foot on the field as a redshirt freshman in 2018. Weinman has tallied a career total of 75 points (65G/10A)
The Blue Point, N.Y. native recorded 17 points (16G/1A) this past season, starting in all six games for Marist.
