Utah senior attackman Jimmy Perkins has confirmed to Lacrosse Bucket that he will be using his fifth and final year of eligibility at Robert Morris, which is where he began his college lacrosse career.

Perkins entered the NCAA Transfer Portal as a following the 2020 season being cut short due to the Coronavirus and the NCAA granting all spring sport athletes an extra year of eligibility.

A native of Pittsburg, Pa., Perkins spent four years at Robert Morris before transferring to Utah with two years of eligibility left following the 2018 season, where he helped lead Robert Morris to an NEC title and their first NCAA tournament appearance. Perkins sat out his first two seasons at Robert Morris (2015,216) due to injury.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound attackman amassed 79 points (38G/41A) during his two seasons at Robert Morris. At Utah, he tallied 52 points (42G/10A) and was one of the team’s top three scorers both years, which were the program’s first two seasons in DI.

A Quaker Valley (Pa.) product, Perkins heads back to Robert Morris, where he will join an offense that returns attackmen Ryan Smith, who led the team in scoring with 28 points (17G/11A) during 2020, and Austin Popovich, who led the team goals with 18 and recorded 9 assists during their six games in 2020, for a fifth year. Smith has been an impact player for the majority of his time at Robert Morris, starting regularly since 2018. Popovich broke out during his senior season, but was a consistent contributor during his first three seasons.

The Colonials also return three other top five scorers from this past shortened season in midfielder Jake Boudreau (9G/7A) and attackmen Brandon Sulhoff (12G/1A) and Elliot Holden (2G/12A).

Robert Morris finished the season 3-3 and ranked as the 15th-best scoring offense in DI, and second among the NEC, averaging 13.60 goals per game.
