During the shortened 2020 season, He went 87-for-154 (56%) at the faceoff dot, scooped up 55 ground balls, and caused one turnover during the Pirates’ six games.
At Hartford, Groom joins a Hawks’ team that ended the shortened 2020 season with a record of 3-3. The Hawks earned wins over Canisius, Manhattan, and Wagner. They suffered losses to Sacred Heart, St. John’s, and Marist.
Groom is the second transfer at the faceoff dot for the Hawks in the past year, as Andrew Moynihan, who served as Hartford’s main faceoff man this past season, transferred in from DIII Wilkes University prior to the 2020 season. Groom should be able to compete for the top spot at the faceoff dot in 2021.
