During the first two days of the NLL Free Agency period, the New York Riptide have made the biggest splash. After making a very impactful signing on the defensive end of the floor yesterday, the Riptide have signed one of the biggest offensive weapons in the game in forward Callum Crawford.
A 15-year veteran, Crawford has been the second and first leading scorer in the NLL over the past two seasons as a member of the New England Black Wolves. Crawford recorded 76 points on 33 goals and 43 assists in 11 games this past season before the Coronavirus outbreak cut the season short.
“His attributes at playing this game are second to none and his track record proves that. This acquisition expedites our team building process exponentially. We are over-excited to welcome him to New York.” said New York general manager Jim Veltman in a press release.
Crawford has recorded a career total of 1,049 points (390/659A) and is one of only 11 players in league history to be part of the 1K club.
The 6-foot-3, 205 pound forward was originally selected 18th overall in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft by Calgary. He has also spent time in San Jose, Chicago, Edmonton, Minnesota, Colorado, and Buffalo during his career.
Upon arriving on Long Island, Crawford will join forces with the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NLL Draft, Tyson Gibson, Dan Lomas, Connor Kelly, and a few other younger, talented forwards that should complement Crawford’s play very well.
