Kevin Corrigan and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish picked up their 10th commitment in the 2022 class on Monday afternoon, as Culver, Ind. goalie Colin Vickrey announced his commitment to the Irish. A Dallas, Texas native, Vickrey is the fourth commitment in the class on the defensive side of the field for the Irish, joining St. Thomas, Minn. defenseman Jackson Carver, Wilton, Conn. defensman Jake Sommer, and Brunswick, Conn. LSM Will Donovan.

Vickrey announced his commitment to the Irish via Instagram.

Notre Dame defensive coordinator Ryan Wellner initially reached out to Vickery in the first hour of the contact period on September 1st, and he received an offer from the Irish this past Sunday, following a trip up to South Bend to walk around campus.

“At Notre Dame, you are truly getting the best of both worlds in the classroom and on the field…When walking around, I knew this was the place for me, Vickrey said. ” I also believe the culture of Notre Dame will fit me perfectly.”

Rated as a four-star prospect by Inside Lacrosse, the 6-foot-1, 195 goalie describes his play as having fast hands and feet. He also stated that he has been compared to Syracuse and Navy legends John Galloway and Mickey Jarboe and commented on how his athleticism impacts his play.

“I can use my athleticism to run outside the crease while also being able to throw dimes,” said Vickrey.

While the Coronavirus took away the majority of the spring lacrosse season and jammed the summer into fewer weeks, Vickrey, who also plays football for Culver, said that since coming back he has felt a sense of normalcy. “We still have practices and games. Culver has created a bubble for us, as we are tested weekly and not allowed to leave campus.”

Coming into his junior season, Vickrey stated that he and his team have goals that they are looking to accomplish. “As a team, we are looking to continue on what we missed out on last year, a National Championship. I also want to prepare myself to the best of my ability for my future at Notre Dame,” said Vickrey.
