Andy Whitley and the Bellarmine Knights got some good news on Thursday, as Southern Regional, N.J., junior defenseman Nathan Committee announced that he would be taking his talents to Louisville in a few years. The defenseman also considered Wagner and had interest from both Hartford and Fairfield.

The Garden State native is the fourth commitment in the class of 2022 for Bellarmine and first on the defensive end of the field.

“It’s everything I’m looking for in a school,” Committee told Lacrosse Bucket. “Great area, smaller class sizes, and the opportunity to play DI lacrosse.”

While in-person recruiting and visits are still off the table due to the recruiting dead period implemented by the NCAA, Committee was able to get to Louisville with his father for a few days in early December and see the campus.

Bellarmine first-year defensive coordinator Nicholas Marks initially reached out to the defenseman in November. Committe said that Coach Marks has been in weekly contact with him ever since that initial contact back in November.

On film, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman shows to be pretty disruptive and having a nose for the ball. He knows how to get his stick in passing lanes and cause turnovers. Committee also shows some physicality and is not afraid to use his body when needed. He is a dual-sport athlete, also playing football for Southern Regional.

One area that he said he wants to improve on is his transition game. “I  want to be come more of a threat in transition. Really look to push the break more this spring.”

Coming into the 2021 season, Committee said that he has his sights set on helping lead his team to a state title. “We had high hopes of winning a state championship back in spring of 2020. This spring they’re no different…this spring we can’t settle for anything less than a ring,” Committee said. “We are a very talented group of players who have all be playing together for a long time. We all believe that we are capable of winning states this spring.”
