While it has taken a bit longer for teams and conference to get their schedules together for the 2021 season due to the Coronavirus outbreak and various restrictions surrounding the virus, Schedule release schedule has finally begun!
The Delaware Blue Hens are the 16t DI and second CAA team to release their full 2021 schedule. The Blue Hens come into the 2021 season after going 4-2 during the shortened 2020 season.
Delaware’s Full 2021 Schedule:
|2/17||Mount St. Mary’s||Delaware|
- Four non-conference games, including annual rivalry contests against Loyola.
- Will play CAA opponents Drexel, Towson, Fairfield twice. Everyone else once
Games to Circle
2/13 vs Villanova: The Blue Hens open the season at home against Villanova in the first of four non-conference contests. Villanova holds a 12-7 series lead and has won the past three contests, which includes a 19-10 victory last season. Delaware’s last victory over Villanova came in 2017 in a 13-10 contest.
3/13 & 4/10 @/vs Drexel: One of three CAA teams that the Blue Hens will play twice, Delaware and Drexel will go at it in mid March and again in Mid April. Both sitting in that upper middle tier of the conference and brining back some talented players, including fifth-year guys, both of these contests could be very impactful as far as the postseason seeding is concerned. Delaware has only beaten Drexel twice in the past eight full seasons, which includes a 17-8 victory in 2018 and 15-13 win in 2019.
4/30 vs UMass: The Blue Hens haven’t beaten UMass, who many have as the CAA favorite, since 2016. But their past three meetings (2017, 2018, 2019) have been very tight contests. Their last meeting in 2019 saw UMass eek out an 11-9 victory with two late goals.
