The UAlbany men’s lacrosse program and head coach Scott Marr announced the dismissal of star senior attackman Tehoka Nanticoke on Wednesday afternoon.
Marisia Jacques of Spectrum News Albany was first to report the news.
The senior attackman has seen action and started in four of Great Danes’ six contest this season and tallied 23 points (15G/8A). He missed the first game of the season due to COVID protocols and was one of three players suspended for Albany’s contest against UMass last week following a fight during their contest against Binghamton.
Nanticoke came into Albany as one of the most hyped recruits in recent memory and was a day one starter. He helped lead the Danes to their first-ever Championship Weekend appearance in 2018 and ends his career with a total of 170 points (195G/61A).
A statement from UAlbany said that Nanticoke was “dismissed based on internal team issues.”
Nanticoke will likely be a coveted pick in the upcoming PLL College Draft later this spring.
Update (2:47pm) – Nanticoke has released a personal statement on Twitter.
